Davidson McDonnell is delighted to announce its 2023 charity partnership with AWARE NI, the depression charity for Northern Ireland. AWARE NI delivers mental health and well-being programmes to communities, schools, colleges, universities and workplaces throughout Northern Ireland.

We were pleased that Natasha Mackay, Corporate Partnership Officer at AWARE NI, was able to come to our offices to give us a bit of background about the charity and explain how they could help us as well as how we can help them.

Natasha added: “We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Davidson McDonnell, which represents a significant step forward in our mission to raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health in Northern Ireland. Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen our efforts to support local people affected by depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder, whilst promoting positive mental health amongst Davidson McDonnell’s workforce”.

The charity was born in Derry in 1996 but now has a second office in Belfast as well as an established network of 25 support groups across Northern Ireland, run by their trained volunteers.

The unfortunate reality is that most people will either suffer from some form of mental health illness during their lifetime or will know someone else close to them who has. It is therefore important to prioritise and protect our mental health – every day of the year – just like we would with physical symptoms and illnesses. Spotting the signs early and getting help are paramount to enable recovery and on-going management of mental health illnesses.

Our workplaces are all impacted by mental health issues and, at Davidson McDonnell, we want to ensure that our staff and those in our communities get access to the help they need as and when they need it.

Our aim is to raise as much as possible during 2023 so our team and their families are keen to get involved in some exciting charity events this year ranging from coastal walks and viking boat racing to cold water swims.
